Getting home: extraction trains
The only way out of a breach is a train. How to pick the right one and what to do when it goes wrong.
Most first-week losses aren't fights. They're pilots who boarded the wrong train, or stayed too long looking for it.
The rule
Leaving a breach is only possible by train. If you are not on a train, you are still in the breach.
Reading the markers
Extraction points show as green boxes. Each one says where its train goes, and trains go to different destinations: some to hubs, some into other breaches. To get home, find the marker for your hub. Tzhal pilots look for ZHAT; Ganden pilots look for theirs.
Read the marker before you commit. A train into another breach with a full hold and a damaged hull is how runs end.
Build rating and trains
Your build rating includes 25% of your cargo. A good haul can push you over the limit of the breach a train is heading to. If a train won't take you, that is usually why. Pick a different train rather than dumping cargo.
Before you head out
- Know which extraction marker you want before you start mining or fighting.
- Leave while the hold is still worth less than the ship.
- Carry ORE in cargo if you might need to repair at a terminal on the way, and repair charges if you run an Armor repairer.
When it goes wrong
If you lose a ship to a genuine crash or disconnect during beta, the devs restore it. Open Notifications, select the lost ship, copy the loss manifest image and post it. You need to be in a hub for the restore.
Relocate is not extraction
Relocate moves you, not your ship, to another hub where you already have a ship docked. It doesn't move cargo. Materials between hubs have to be hauled, ideally in a Hauler such as the Achamoth or Mammon.
Close the browser in a hub
Once you're docked, your progress is saved. Closing the browser in a hub is safe; closing it mid-breach is not a plan.
