What is Citadel?

Citadel is a browser-based gunship MMO: you fit your own ship, pick a side and fly into breaches to fight, mine and salvage.

The game takes place inside the Citadel, a giant machine-world built by a vanished civilisation and still expanding on its own. You play a Breacher, one of the pilots who go into its broken regions and come back with what they find.

The game

You fly a gunship you have fitted yourself, module by module. You join one of the two factions at war, Ganden or Tzhal. Then you take on breaches: dangerous zones full of NPCs, loot and other players. It all runs in a desktop browser, with nothing to install.

The loop

Fit your ship, enter a breach, fight, mine and salvage, then extract to bring your haul home.

What makes it different

The stakes. A ship destroyed in a breach is gone for good, together with its modules and the cargo it carried, much like gear in Tarkov or ships in EVE Online. That is what makes every run tense and every extraction feel earned.

You choose what to put on the line. Everything in your hub stash stays safe while you fly, and every ship has four safety hold cells, a 2×2 square at the top left of its cargo grid, that bring their contents home even if the ship goes down. Your first ship, the Seraph, is free, and if you are ever left without a hull you are given another.
